Friends of Red Rocks presents another Free Music Celebration

Day: Saturday, September 27, 2003

Time: 12 Noon

Where: Red Rocks Visitors Center

Featuring live entertainment by:
Cocktail Revolution
UVERSA
CC’s Dilemma

Contact: Mike Ballard

For its first few years, Friends of Red Rocks (FORR) was a largely political organization. This group of concerned volunteers found itself in the middle of the most contentious issues that have faced Red Rocks Park & Amphitheatre in recent history; including the just-completed amphitheatre renovations, the Jeffco land swap that saved the Morrison Valley from being developed and turned it into designated open space, the Clear Channel booking deal, and most recently the Mt. Morrison Tower project.

All that controversy behind them, the folks at FORR have decided to do more of what the group formed to do in the first place —stewardship projects within the park and the amphitheatre. This marks the first year of the Red Rocks trail cleanups. On the last Saturday of each month —barring severe weather —groups of FORR volunteers pick up trash, broken bottles, and other debris from the Red Rocks Park trail system.

Believing that some change is good, FORR had it's first celebration at the Red Rocks Amphitheatre Visitor Center in July. This first party went so well that it was suggested that we do it again. From 12 Noon to 4 pm on Saturday, September 27th, come out and visit with the concerned citizens that make up Friends of Red Rocks. Food and beverages will be provided, and live entertainment will be courtesy of local Denver bands Cocktail Revolution, UVERSA and CC's Dilemma.

While we celebrate the FORR volunteers, anyone who cares about Red Rocks is cordially invited. Special thanks to the folks at Aramark and Denver's Division of Theaters and Arenas for all of their help and support.
